Blog

Hello there!

Let me start today’s blog with a question for you… Have you looked in the mirror today?

Just something to ponder for a moment and we will come back to this soon!

So, as a family we love to watch movies together. My daughter is always looking for the latest DVD release so we can have family movie nights and a couple of weeks ago we bought the new Lego Batman movie.

Oh my goodness it is so funny. Seriously you need to get it and watch it – even if you don’t have kids. It is one of the funniest movies I have seen!

My kids also love the movie soundtrack and have been playing the songs from the Lego Batman movie pretty much every time we get into our car.

One of the songs is “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson. I have been singing along to the most of the songs without thinking too much about the words but this one really caught my attention.

Look at these lyrics from the chorus of the song:

I’m starting with the man in the mirror

I’m asking him to change his ways

And no message could have been any clearer

If you wanna make the world a better place

Take a look at yourself and then make a change.

Wow! This is a really powerful song.

How often to do we look at a situation and consider it someone else’s problem. Or we see a need but expect someone else to provide a solution. Or perhaps closer to home we expect everyone around us to change to suit our needs and preferences (I’m hands up guilty here)

Yet quite often it is us that need to change.

So back to the question I asked you at the beginning: Have you looked in the mirror today?

What do you see?

Sadly so many people don’t even like what they see and find it hard to love themselves. Some people look at themselves through the eyes of rejection, hurt and fear, and they can despise the image reflected in the mirror.

Maybe you need to look in the mirror and smile at the person looking back at you. You could even take it a step further and say something encouraging to yourself – there’s a thought…speak nice to yourself!

Perhaps you need to look and the mirror and decide to be the change rather than expecting everyone else to be.

This blog is a bit of a challenging one. Considering last week we were talking about clothing options!

(Relax; I’ll do another fashion blog next week!)

However, I know what life is like. I know what people are going through and I want to encourage you to take a look in the mirror and decide to be the change in your world!

That’s it for this week. If you haven’t seen The Lego Batman Movie, do yourself a favour and watch it this weekend.

Till next time: Have fun looking in the mirror!

Natt xx
